Youth

Early in its existence, Zeta Phi Beta committed itself to improve the health and welfare of children and youth. Throughout its existence, Zeta has conducted national and local projects that would improve conditions among these populations. The sorority sponsored a national juvenile delinquency project the first 45 years of its existence. Different aspects were highlighted through special projects, such as Foster Home Care, Youth Conferences, Tinker Shops and the development of youth groups (i.e. Amicettes and Archonettes).

The first clubs were formed in the 1950’s under the name of Zetalites, Amicettes, and Archonettes. These clubs were composed of young ladies between the ages of nine (9) and eighteen (18) who were matriculating in junior and senior high schools.

These clubs are sponsored by various chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The Zeta Youth Auxiliaries members are included, whenever appropriate, in Zeta Phi Beta programs and projects as observers and participants. Many programs have been developed and guidelines established for our Zeta Youth Auxiliaries and they have become viable links of the Sorority.

Pearlettes are girls from the ages of 4 to 8 who are mentored by the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. to become outstanding leaders in their community.

Amicettes are young ladies 9 to 13 years of age who are willing to strive toward the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and who demonstrate potential in leadership and in service to their community.

Archonettes are young ladies 14 years of age or older who demonstrate an interest in the goals and ideals of scholarship, sisterly love, and community service, and are interested in becoming a finer version of themselves.

Unique to the Southern Region, there are also Zeta Youth Auxiliaries for young men: the Gems and Gents and Gents II.
